Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The seafood at Ocean Pan receives rave reviews, particularly for its freshness and quality. Diners often highlight the generous portion sizes too, which provide excellent value for money in the £10–20 price range. Popular items include the braised pork belly, duck ramen, and chicken chops in hot pot—all known for their traditional flavors and hearty servings. The friendly and accommodating staff add to the experience, creating a warm atmosphere that encourages repeat visits. It's the kind of place where patrons feel like family by the time they leave.

Most Disliked

Some patrons mention that due to its hidden location, Ocean Pan might be tricky to find for newcomers. A few diners feel that the restaurant’s simple decor lacks the polish seen in more upscale dining establishments. While the takeaway options are available, the atmosphere can’t be fully appreciated unless experienced in-house—which some think can detract from the experience if they choose takeout. Additionally, while the menu spans a variety of seafood and traditional dishes, a few customers express a desire for more diverse vegetarian offerings.

This is a small but beautiful spot to dine in, especially if you’re craving authentic Chinese cuisine. It is easily missed due to its tucked-away location, but absolutely worth discovering. The food is fantastic, with big portions and very reasonable prices. We tried the braised pork belly, duck ramen, and chicken chops in hot pot—all of which were delicious and full of traditional flavors. What truly stood out was the warm hospitality; we felt genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hearty, authentic Chinese meal.

Easily missed little gem. Very simple family run cafe, with best Chinese seafood in town. Without doubt the best place for Seafood in Chinatown. Freshly cooked in this little family run cafe, with some unique but delicious tastes. We went for the Ocean Platter for two. Everything was just perfect, sea bass, prawns, calamari. We also tried some fluffy potato croquet and fish in cheese sauce. It was so fresh and tasty.. (A advise just having rice with the platters, forgo the chips. Nothing wrong with them, but a chip is chip!) A must visit when in China, with truly friendly and welcoming service. Don't miss out.

🇿🇦🇿🇦 South African food in china town??? 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 Went in here on a whim. Was shown the old menu (Chinese food) but also their new menu. Noticed bunny chow on there…. And turns out their new menu is essentially a better version of Ocean Basket menu!! We had this deliciously seasoned sea food platter, along with their piri piri sauce. The cheesy mussels on there were amazing. Super friendly owner, and turns out she lived in SA for years before emigrating back to UK. Will definitely be back again!
